Floof in the first panel may be the cutest thing ever, although I also love the little Mother Goose. And Sirius is so adorable and patient, watching and learning and wondering.
I worked as a library aid at a local high school right out of college. It paid minimum wage, which at the time was around $2 an hour, but it was the most interesting job I ever had. It made me wish I’d majored in library science instead of English Education. I loved updating the old wooden file drawer card catalog.
I was going to say Dog-a-log, I was going to say the books were Dogeared… but you guys all beat me to it. I’ve gotta get up earlier. But then I’ll need a Cat nap.
I miss the old card catalogues. I like the digital system just fine, but sometimes I think about filling out a slip of paper and handing it to the librarian, who would stamp the due date on cards in my books. I was a young patron of the library and still go regularly.
I’ve just scrolled through and seen so many puns, lol. As for me, my brain is a bit more linguistic leaning, so I looked up “catalog vs. catalogue” (answer: American vs. British spelling) and its etymology (answer: Greek: “pick out or enroll”).

Good question. She’s got you there, Kate.

Floof would love 636.8 in the Dewey Decimal system.

Sirius is adorable listening to Kate and Floof. I love the play on words Floof used to Kate.

And why are some libraries organised like a catacomb? And so quiet they’re like catalysts to catatonia?
