Didn’t quite nail it, but got the spirit of Miles’ response close enough.

Everyone here, raise your hand if you were easily identified by a short note to a substitute teacher. (Mine’s up). I believe the note said, “The one who’s drawing.”

Kevin’s teacher really knows him well

I know this strip doesn’t usually deal with race, but if I were a black kid in the ‘80s, I wouldn’t be too eager to take on a white kid’s transgressions. Not even now.

Knowing how much more harshly they’ll be punished.

I expect Kevin, like Joan Jett, doesn’t give a [darn] about his reputation.

Does teacher’s note say what Miles said (as Kevin) or what Kevin said (as Miles)?
