Is this the first appearance of Bill the Cat?
A Google search shows an auction for a Sunday Bloom County strip as the first appearance for Bill the Cat:

However the comic is listed as “date unknown”.
That’s the comic where he first appears as Bill the Cat, but I remember a couple of strips where random cats the look like Bill appear. I think that’s how BB always draws cats.
