always wise to be cautious Fred!

It’ll be okay, Fred. If it’s ever burglars you can bite them. And you don’t believe in ghosts, do you? Fred?

The place is haunted, Fred, but don’t worry. No one is going to hurt you.

“Of course, it’s the central heating, I think.”

The “I think” is very important.

“If I didn’t know that, I’d be quite worried.”

I think he means, “If I didn’t think that, I’d be quite worried.”

Fred, no ghost would bother you, you’re a good boy. Just leave them alone and then hide. Dogs and cats can see and feel spirits.

At least they leave it on for you while they’re gone, Fred!

Fred just another case of things that go “Bump” in the night ;-)

Some of my pipes make noise as they expand when the hot water in them gets hotter after the boiler turns on, as they rub against some wood behind the ceiling.

When you’re alone at night sometimes every little sound is magnified.

The webcomic Schlock Mercenary had an arc dealing with an alien-built spaceship that was producing some very odd noises, quite alarming to the people who were trying to live in it. Some of them tried to argue that the noises were simply gurgles in the plumbing … gurgles that sounded like coherent and decidedly threatening sentences: “I will devour your souls” or “You are all doomed….”

The wind is howling here today (and overnight!). Scary…

Houses always make strange noises when you’re alone. . . .

If it’s the old steam radiators …… they do groan and moan …… and sometimes bang …. I remember as a kid in our house …. :)

I think they designed our latest refrigerator to make haunted house noises on purpose. And our new boiler makes some strange sounds too.
