I hated that question when I was in front of a class. Students who didn’t want to learn anything, they just wanted to pass. Clueless was the kindest adjective I might apply to them… And I was seldom that kind in my mental assessment. You’re there to learn – and I tried to encourage critical thinking. If you can think critically instead of just regurgitating what you see in print or on the news/web you have an education. If you can simply repeat what you were told you’re a trained chicken.

I think she meant chapters four through eight.

Aeons ago, Daughters #1 and #2 were in a summer program for gifted and talented kids, at a university here in Indiana polis.

The prof said that the main difference between these kids and her undergraduates was that they never asked that question.
