I don’t feel Cameron really needs to be worried about a midlife crisis just yet. I totally embrace this teaching of existentialist crisis maths though.
Hmm, that last question might have enough information to guess at the answers.I assume that the question is asking how old Cameron and Lisa are and using the 2024 average life expectency of 73.33 years or 26765 days (not account for leap years, since math problems like this usually doesn’t).
In this case Cameron is 26765-22453 = 4312 days old or 11 years old (and nine months and between 21 and 23 days depending on his birthday).
Lisa meanwhile is 22453/2 = 11226 (dropping fractions), which makes her 26765-11226 = 15540 days or 42 years old (and six months and between 26 and 29 days)
Those are pretty horrible word math problems, I think might possibly be the point. “Fergus lost his job and was convicted of stalking by a vindictive ex-wife. Because of that he won’t make his mortgage payments. How long will it be before he loses his house and is stabbed to death in prison?”

This reminds me of an old singalong we had to pass the cooped up time away during dreary high school long field trips.
“12,857 bottles of beer on the wall, 12,857 bottles of beer.”
“Take one down and share it around. That leaves 12,856 bottles of beer on the wall!”
“12,856 bottles of beer on the wall! 12,856 bottles of beer … "
You can see we were never bored if we just practiced our arithmetic lessons on the bus trip!

Nancy’s feeling of being cooped up, reminds me of how much I hated school.

Her panicked face in the last panel is hilarious.
