Milkweed, botanical name Asclepias but some species (non-native types) have got to dieback or be cutback to the ground in fall due to the plant hosting a protozoa that the harms the monarchs.

How did they evolve a migration that takes generations? With pockets where they’re neither particularly migratory nor endangered. Can they understand & work around overgrazing? Bison migrate to let their fertilizer have time to work its magic.

Man, you gotta warn a guy before you dump an earworm like that on me.

Now you’re getting personal. I have no idea why Topeka shows up so often in shows and writing. Not that it isn’t stuck in the 50’s in most ways or the incredible ignorance shown by most here. Born and raised and never got out. You get used to it after a few decades. Just as a side point, for some reason, there are like 6-7 Topeka’s in the country. Kansas here, state capital. Which just makes the ignorance worse. Go figure.

“Good-bye my friends, it’s hard to die….” I had the refrain, paraphrased in the last frame, going through my head and looked up the rest of the lyrics. SO sorry I did but completely apropos to today’s toon.
