Times and things have sure changed. When I was in grade school the schools actually cooked a nutritious lunch. It was not unheard of kids (myself included) going back for seconds. They were actually quite good. After the good ol gov’ment stepped in and set nutrition “guidelines” on what could be served it all went down hill. What my 9 year old eats for lunches now, can hardly be called more than a snack. Hot lunches are a thing of the past.
I went to Edwin Markham Jr Hi in San Jose, in late 50s. Because of the catholics in school, we had a fish type lunch every friday. One, like creamed chipped beef, was called tuna ruuna. We called it ruin the tuna.
