I can remember the days of the TV with tubes. Occasionally, a tube would blow out and your TV no work no more. You would have to wait a day or two for a now extinct life form called a “TV Repairman” to come out and put a new tube in
Calvin should pal up with Saruman. He probably has “The Wall of Many Colours”. However, even though the wall is actually just white, Saruman has reportedly been visiting Radagast the Baked at his dispensary in Encino for some “medicinal” pipeweed. (wink, wink)
So ends the three-week arc. Someone said that Mom reflecting on how possessions are more important than people was “a sweet ending” but it continued to this bittersweet moment before ending. As I have noted before, later strips will show Calvin watching TV again so they either got their bouncing TV set back or bought another one. I hope that they got their TV and jewellery back rather than have to replace them.
All Calvin can think about is ‘Hobbes’ and the tv when his parents house was broken into -their little world (as ‘messed up’ as it is) has been ‘violated’ and all Calvin can think about is how it effects him-the boy has some problems to deal with ! ! ! !
SpongeBob from your old TV is screaming “IMAGINATION” You should be able to hear him….. seeing that your conversing with a stuffed tiger at the moment.

Calvin, think of the white wall space as a canvas for you to do some art work.I am sure, your parents will appreciate it.

Plot twist: Calvin is actually watching paint dry!

That’s because plain old white is easier for a comic strip artist to draw.

Too bad there were no computers or cell phones around to amuse him. Then, he could be a “techno-nerd”, like Alex in “Doonesbury”.

Maybe Hobbes can find a new point for Calvin’s existence. Hobbes often inspires Calvin – for better or for worse.

Spending a couplafew hours watching a blank wall is preferable to watching a cell phone.

In my folks house that TV would have been replaced within a day. Particularly during football season.

I am somewhat surprised the family even reply their stolen television. Dad would have of course wanted Calvin to build character that way.

And of course, the story arc now ends on a downer note for Calvin.
But in some Sunday strips, we’ve seen that their living room or den or whatever has an orangey-beige color.
