That song drives me crazy. It goes on so long that I quit listening to the words, and to this day I think it makes no sense. Songs where the words are sung so clearly and well—my brain wants them to tell a sensible story, not be full of metaphors and symbols. LOL

It happens to all of us. When you figure it out, share it with us.

A long, long time ago
I can still remember how that music
Used to make me smile
And I knew if I had my chance
That I could make those people dance
And maybe they’d be happy for a while
But February made me shiver
With every paper I’d deliver
Bad news on the doorstep
I couldn’t take one more step
I can’t remember if I cried
When I read about his widowed bride
But something touched me deep inside
The day the music died

Or me going into the Drug Store to buy ONE thing, then couldn’t remember the name of it. And I remembered at 10:00 that night.

At least you didn’t drive your Chevy to the levee, and then forget why.

Go back to where you were when you thought of it. Most times it will come back to you.

Oh, well, a couple of cookies and a steamy cup of coffee will do until you remember. And a newspaper, if they still had those.

My theory is, we’ve got so much old junk in there, there’s no room for new junk.
