I wear glasses and I can say with 100% certainty that I’ve never done that (lost them on my head). What I have done on a few occasions is reach up to my nose to push my glasses back a bit and realize that I’m not wearing them at that moment. Old habit.
I was looking all over for my hearing aids before realizing they were in my ears. Off but in my ears. Getting old is a comedy, a thriller, a drama, a horror show and an action adventure all rolled into one. Still better than getting kicked out of the theater before the end though.
I once lost my glasses and it took me several minutes to find them. Turned out I put them in my jacket pocket because they got wet in the rain. I got distracted when I got into the house and forgot.
Worn glasses since second grade – at that time distance only. Over the decades of course my eyes progressed and I had a parade of glasses.
Currently I have a pair of distance glasses, a pair of progressive lenses, a pair of reading glasses, a pair of distance sunglasses (last kept in our car) and a pair of progressive lenses which change from clear to sun. I tend to wear the reading glasses in the house for most everything (including right now).
I have a pair of modern metal framed, small lens glasses I used when we first started 18th c reenacting and also good for one 19thc event we used to do – a pair of matching sunglasses (last is kept in our van). A pair of repro 18th c glasses with holes in ear pieces to tie them on with a ribbon – have found I don’t need for same, but have put a long ribbon so when doing embroidery demo at event I can let them hang down so I can see what I am stitching without them – also a pair of sunglasses of same.
Then there is the emergency pair. One night some years ago we were in Barnes & Nobles at night – when there we separate to walk around. Husband texted that he was ready to leave. I got to the door first and took off my glasses to rub them clean with my shirt. I suddenly realized that I had the frame and one lens in it in my right hand and the other lens by itself in my left hand! It occurred to me that if I had been there alone at night (during the day there I have a pair of sunglasses in each vehicle so have a spare pair during the day) I would not be able to drive home as I did not have glasses! I had a pair of glasses which I had not been that happy with and kept in at home as a spare emergency pair and I now keep the pair in our car just in case I am out alone at night and my glasses break, I can still drive home. This is something I had never thought of in all the decades I was driving and have worn glasses since long before started driving.
My wife owns several pairs of reading glasses. One day she was looking for some. She searched high and low for a while, and finally found a pair in another room. She went to put them on, only to notice something was in her way. It was the pair of glasses she was already wearing.

Good thing that Katy didn’t take them for one of her tea parties (like in an earlier strip).

There are times when some things are easier to see or read without any kind of glasses.

My wife does that all the time, to the point of having 2 pair on her head…

I have never understood why anyone would put their glasses on top of oily hair. I keep my glasses clean, so that I can see.

I’ve been known to go looking for my glasses only to discover I was already wearing them.

I once retraced my steps all over a six story department store looking for my hat. Finally found it on my head.
