The ferret is trash talking now…

Poor, sweet Gutter. I feel for him. Unrequited love. And who could blame him. Sophie is quite the girl. All the lava lamps in the world wont fill up that empty space he’s feeling in his raccoon heart.

Awww, poor Gutter. And she doesn’t even know he exists…

Faint heart never won the fair maiden.

Our beautiful Sophie has admirers among many species.

Aww, Gutter has got it bad for Sophie. All is not lost, little raccoon man. That ferret will be gone and who will be around to bring Sophie found objects for her art? You, that’s who. Just be patient.

Gutter is a better fit. Maybe she’s into bad boys.

Hopefully, sooner than later, Sophie will figure out that Wesley is just a creepy, trash-eating fur-snake who sleeps with his eyes open, and that they really have nothing in common.♥

So we’re now confirmed Gutter has a crush on Sophie, and i’m for this development. It feels weird as I was just shipping her and Elvis yesterday, and if this dosen’t work out still am, but I accept sometimes cannon shifts away from a ship you had. Granted I do hope Gutter gets the diffrence between a crush on a celebrity and actually trying to woo them, parasocial relatoinships are a fine line to walk, but I feel this arc will handle that well.

But part of my excitment is I realized yesterday while doing my digging we really DON’T know a ton about the other racoons, despite the whole epic story arc last year. We know Old Mag very well, got to know Magazine during World War Mole.. but looking back on their apperances we don’t really know much about the big three of Gutter, Glamour Hamor and Junk (Who we see in today’s strip). Looking back at Goldie’s intro, Gutter is the inspector of the group, using a big magnifying glass and being the only one besides mag who seems to have authority on what’s “good trash” and really likes Lava Lamps, Junk is a bit agressive and likes Dr. Scuttles podcast and now twitter and Glamour Hammer has the best name ever. But we really know a lot about them personally. WE don’t even know which one is the kit’s father as I pointed out yesterday, unless georgia said so on her socials or there was a hint in previous stories. The only thing we know in THAT direction is that their not up for the throne and that likely none of them are Mag’s children, as otherwise why would magazine be next in line. So getting to see Gutter outside his duties nad hurting deep is nice. I also like that at least two of the pieces he salvaged are call backs: Sophie and Tommy revealed they love pom poms during that brief one off arc with Iggy last year, and she said she used string as a medium at some point. (I’d dig it up but i’ts very late slash early here)

Well, hmm … there’s gotta be a way for a lovesick raccoon to meet his sweet kitty crush. Could be Wesley is an escape artist, and he and Sophie get lost together outside the PBH? And the Gallant Gutter comes to the rescue? Just spitballing here …

I really love her lava lamps. Hubby and I have an AMAZING lava lamp from this super cool hippy shop that has stars in it and pink and deep blue swirls that look like nebulae going across our ceiling with these bright stars dipping in and out. It’s quite entrancing! ❤❤❤

The photo on Gutter’s wall reminds me that we haven’t seen a good Tabby Tussle match in quite a while.

You know Wesley is only there for a little while, right, Sophie? When he’s gone, Gutter and Tommy will be there for you.

I just had to go around counting my cats. There’s a black cat at my door who wants in. My landlord will kill me if I adopt another cat.

Don’t know where this is going, but getting the popcorn and crying tissues, ready!

Aww, somebody’s got a crush! Not to worry though, I don’t think his chances are totally ruined just yet, as I’m not sure the ferret Sophie’s being sweet on is even aware of what’s going on. :-P

I feel sorry for Gutter and his unrequited love for Sophie. Maybe Princess Magazine in the future? I just wish Sophie would turn to Tommy – he’s so – oh well I think he’s purrfect for Sophie. Maybe Sophie likes bad bois but I can’t see Sophie and Burt together. Go Tommy!

Here’s one I don’t understand: I tried to make a post in the Over the Hedge comments and it wouldn’t post. I tried to post [ Snore ] but with the brackets next to the letters and it erased it all. So I ended up posting it with curly brackets as {Snore} instead, and it posted that way. Couldn’t figure that one out. Are straight brackets used in URLs or something that I am missing?

Many cats have eaten trash. We keep the compost bin in a cat proof area. We have lids on all trash cans. Our daughter nearly lost a cat to an intestinal blockage caused by a pencil eraser.
