Ohhhh!! Low salary, low professional support, low expectation by society for our students, low interest in being well educated . . Finland, for example, pays teachers as much as lawyers, requires elementary teachers to have master’s degrees, and funds every child’s education in all the public schools throughout the nation equally.
A retired teacher of 32 years, teaching is “no walk in the park” that is for sure. I remember hauling my homework ( checking essays/term papers, etc.) to my son’s ball game. I sat checking “my homework” when HE HIT A HOMERUN WITH BASES LOADED and I did not see the hit! I only looked up when everyone was cheering for my son! I joined in on the cheers, but AFTER the hit! My son was angry and hurt. He said, “Why do you even come, if you don’t watch me, at least at bat?” I never brought anything but beverages to the game again.
