Doc T ~ If your son is like you in personality, he is not a poor kid.
My daughter is a lot like me, but I try to blame the negative stuff on her dad. One day while we were shopping, she was being a smart@55. I told her she got the smart from me and the @55 from her father. LOL
Then I was good and told her not to give up hope, maybe her father would change for the better. She had just been complaining about some of her father’s prejudices.
I had a good week. It was a pretty bleeep good week! I think there were good vibes from the Tribe keeping me from panic mode when I’d get just a little bit behind. Thank you ! Thank you!!

My son’s fully moved in but not fully unpacked. He went out yesterday afternoon and still isn’t back. He told me when he was going to stay out all night Wed. night, but I heard nothing about this one. I am worried a tad…..visions of son smashed flat on the road vs all night gaming session vs still asleep in bed with his sweetie. Hopefully the first vision will be the loser.

Good Morning Yappies!(((((Quaby))))) I pray you hear from you son very soon. I’m sure all is well, but hearing from him will be comforting to you.
Doc, please know that those books are purely fiction. Sadly, many people have taken them to heart. Once the Lord makes His second coming, there is no second chance.
Shika, you’re very welcome sister!
Johnny, I’m doing okay. I’ve been a bit tired, so I nap when needed. My girls are on Spring Break. They went to the beach as it got quite warm, the water temp though was quite chilly.
I’m glad you are doing well. Someday soon you won’t be so busy, then you relax and enjoy the fruits of your hard work!
Hello bmonk and celeccaCarmy, you think the ocean is chilly? You can’t even think about jumping in the lakes up here until halfway into June, and even then, it is at your own risk!
Good Morning celecca! The pollen level is very high in FL today. No yellow fog in view, but my nose knows.
Johnny, it’s going to be awhile until the ocean warms up a bit here. Even though the day temps have been hitting the 80’s, the water temps are in the 60’s.
bmonk, Whitefish Bay was comfortable the last time I was there. But that was quite awhile ago. Carmy, the 60’s is pretty good for water temperature in my opinion.
Now I have to head to work, bbl.
Celecca I to know of the yellow fog. Actually I know of two types of yellow fog:
1) the noxious fumes from PetroChem in Pasadena, TX, it was enough to promote the sport of non-breathing. When it was really bad you’d try to breath but after a moment or two the nose and throat clamp down and say ‘NO MORE”. One memorable day it was so yellow we couldn’t see the school bus until it was almost on us. Black stripes and lettering coming out of the fog, it was unreal.
2) the pollen fog present here in the armpit of the universe. I have two cars, blue and white. Thursday I went out and it looked like someone had replaced them with a green car and a yellow car.
DocT I have the Left Behind books. It’s two guys interpretation of one of the strangest books of the Bible. Wait until you see the stinging critters, complete with demon faces. And, personally, I think God would give another chance, right up until decision time.
celecca, I haven’t been in FL that long, but I also never had problems with the pollen until recent medical situations changed that. Good luck with the rehearsal. May everyone be Blessed with their Gospel Procession tomorrow.
Quaby, have you heard from your son?
celecca A gospel processional? We’re having that on our traditional service as well. We rehearsed Monday night, the one what wiped me out really good (over 3 hours). Easter and Christmas are our ‘high’ days with full rites. Crucifer, the little one carrying the bible, 2 acolytes, and the Festival Choir (bigger than the normal choir). We are so far in back of the line and down a hallway we don’t even hear the confession and forgiveness. We figure we got it the week before and we’ll get it next week.
Quabby, in Organic Chemistry we had a guy put nitric acid in a beaker to boil instead of HCL which created a big cloud of nitrous oxide, aka laughing gas!
Hi & Bye Tribe! - I’ve got a lot of work to get done to day, so can’t stay & visit.
Doc - Regarding Letter Jackets. My sons’ homeschool bowling league actually allows them to “letter” in bowling, and yes, my oldest son’s bowling partner actually bought a letter jacket to put his letter on. I had to explain to my kids what the whole “lettering thing” was about, but they didn’t care about doing it.
Hello Tribe. It has been a bizarre day weather wise, rain, a brief touch of snow, hail and now sunshine, but cold, with a cold wind to add to the merriment.
I know,Dry, but we’re still feeling things out. And he is helping with bills and food. He’ even taking Stormy to the vet, she’s getting worse and though Stormy’s before me in $$ priority, there’s a bunch more ahead of her. Sigh
I’ve done some sorting and pitching in my closet as well as finished disassembling the big shelving unit. I think I will lay down, and if I’m lucky I’ll have a snoozle.
I have banana bread, just out of the oven. This is my first time using this recipe. It is supposed to be healthier than normal banana bread. It certainly is heavier. Each loaf weighs two pounds.
Hello Grog & diffrent. I have heard his music and he has a good voice. My interests in music tend to veer in a number of directions from alternative, to jazz, to blues, to rock and punk. About the only music I do not embrace is Opera. I appreciate the voices but the style is a bit to bombastic. Some might say rock is bombastic, but that would be more in the instruments than the voice.
Grog if you still have the VCR, a lot of times if you remove the lid and clean the parts that the tape makes contact with rubbing alcohol, it will fix the problem of tape eating. (unplug it first of course)
Just had a piece of my homemade banana bread and it is good, but as taste confirmed, it is not a dessert bread. But it is a very good, dense bread that tastes great with butter on it. Dry, I actually was friends of one of the members of the band Bread. Larry Knechtel used to live near me and I got to be friends with him. Unfortunately he passed away last year and he was not that old. He also played piano on Simon & Garfunkel’s “Bridge Over Trouble Water” and on Johnny River’s “Secret Agent Man”, I think he played guitar. He was a studio musician before and after Bread.
Carmy the bread does not taste like bananas. It isn’t sweet either. It tastes like bread with walnuts and only the slightest hint of sweetness. The sweets to flour ratio are small enough that they only hint as to their presence.
Dry your joke was… LOL. As to the theme from “Goodbye Girl”, I do not know. I will google it.
Cleo I haven’t seen that movie in years, but all this talk, I would love to see it again. Wonder if it’s still around?
I guess I must pass on the bread then, with walnuts, you know. Haven’t seen Goodquestion for awhile, but if my memory is correct, that person was also allergic to walnuts.
Carmy yes, LilG proclaimed it perfect and said, “If I make it again, don’t make any changes.” By the way Dry, the walnuts were optional. It would be just as good minus them.
I did learn something though. If I make a bread that bakes that long again, I will turn the pan 180 degrees half way through. One side was done and the other needed several more minutes of baking.
Carmy I’ve never seen the Passion, I heard it was terribly intense, and also not in English. And now that my hero, Mel, has done what he’s done, he’s fallen in my eyes. Though, I must admit, I will watch “Signs” anytime, anyplace! I loved that movie. In fact, I believe we own it, somewhere in that multitude of VHS and DVD’s. LOL!.
Cleo, I have to do that to my recipes because I do forget.
Dry and Shika, I believe The Passion on DVD gives you the option on which language you would like to hear. It also has subtitles. We did see the Aramaic version, but with the English subtitles.
Dry, I loved Signs too, and all the Mad Max movies and especially “Tim.” If you haven’t seen that one, see it as soon as you can!
Cleo yes he does have a LOT of rebuilding to do. I respected him, , and I loved all his movies, Lethal Weapon series, was great! Oh well, there are few in that business that at some time, don’t fall from grace. I think Hollywood is like Sodam and Gomorrha.
Carmy, my problem when it comes to movies, is that we watch them after dinner. I am full, have had some wine and a cocktail or two. I sit down, wide awake and in no time I am sleeping. My wife watches the movie on her own. When I do stay awake, it is my wife who falls asleep.
Cleo, I am famous for falling asleep during a movie. I don’t always, but sometimes I do. The last time I fell asleep, I slept through the middle. I managed to see the beginning and the end.
I am finding that I too am falling asleep almost instantly when I go to bed. I just get comfy and then zzzzzzzzzzzz.
Carmy it has been really consistent since we bought a new mattress about a year ago. Both LilG and I had been waking up with our bodies aching. We spent some big bucks on a new mattress and it has been wonderful. If you are going to spend close to a third of your day on a mattress it is worth the money. Unless I am on a road trip I never spend that much time in my car.
Carmy, I think I envy you. By the time I get to the week-end I am sleep-deprived. But this afternoon I was able to take a two & 1/2 hour nap. I wish I could fall asleep the way you can on week days.
Best thing I ever did was buy Pacific Coast feather pillows. We spent a few nights at the Hampton in Ithaca moving our son into Cornell, best pillows I ever slept on. Checked the label on the pillow before we left. Contacted the company, bought the same pillow, not cheap, BUT I’M WORTH IT! Then sometime later stayed at Hilton Gardens, checked the pillows again. Pacific Coast again, called them, got another pillow, now have 2 of the most COMFORTABLE FEATHER PILLOWS! I LOVE THEM! Spent over $100 on both, but like I said, I LOVE THEM!
I was doing some errands thhis morning, including getting my hair cut and getting some lawn care products. I’ve got more weeds this year than I think I’ve ever had.
Something to work on tomorrow morning before the heat & humidity gets to me.
And yes, I get into bed, esp. on a Sat. night, when weather permitting, I crawl into nice lovely sheets with the smell of FRESH AIR all day long with my sheets on the line, and I feel so SNUGGLY I fall asleep within minutes. Of course, if something is on my mind, I wake up a few hours later, and dwell on that for awhile before I can fall back to sleep again.
No Dry and it’s starting to tick me off. I even sent them an e-mail about it and have not yet got a response to that. The laugh is I asked for expidited shipping.
There they go again!Grog, don’t envy me. I’m sick, that’s why I sleep so much.
I’m multi-tasking here so I’ll be off and on. I’m washing dishes (cuz I said I would) and making a late dinner. I got wrapped up doing a jigsaw puzzle with daughter #2. It was really hard!. It was of the United States, but the pieces were oddly cut. They also had pieces shaped as states, but they didn’t go where their respective states were. We were persistent and we were triumphant!
well done to Carmy on the jigsaw puzzle, and hello to all the Yappy Nuts who populate this Tribe.
just got back from my cousin’s place where we celebrated my Aunt’s 80th birthday. as i posted a day or two back, it’s a little bitter sweet as hers is the day after Mom’s. so, while it was great to see all the cousins again, it was also a reminder of missing Mom. as my Sis noted to my youngest cousin, it would have been a double party and it would have been an absolute bash had Mom still been alive. anyhow, i’m just doing a quick flyby tour since i need to get up early for Church tomorrow a.m. and won’t be back tonight. Happy Easter, Friends!
Hi again. I have a few minutes before I have to leave and where else would I rather spend it than here?
(((((((((((Carmy)))))))) Way to go on your puzzle. I love doing those but it usually takes me a long time. I had one spread out on a table for over a year and a half.
There’s a song I haven’t heard in a long time. All I want for Christmas Is My Two Front Teeth (I am watching the show “Christmas Crackers” from Are You Being Served)
Thank you all for the congrats!
I forgot to mention that we were missing 2 pieces. Turned out that daughter #3 hid one of the pieces under the rug. (Why? I do not know). Then I remembered I had seen one of the pieces on the closet floor and I put it in the box with the game pieces. So we had all 300 pieces.
Dry, I would if I could. I, for the most part, love British comedies. But I don’t think I have ever seen it on any of the local schedules where ever I’ve been.
I do not like Dr Who though. The Avengers is another story. I’ve also liked seeing The Saint.
Dry my Aunt married my Mom’s older brother. They were born a day apart, and knew each other her whole life. my Uncle’s been gone for nearly 15 years, now; Mom passed a bit less than 2 years back. I’ll be at Church tomorrow in her memory (as it would have been her birthday) and to support Dad who spent almost 60 years loving her, (they were married for 54 years) and must miss her more than any of us siblings can begin to imagine. we’ll be okay, and so will Dad, but it helps to be together.
Grog the original Saint, in B & W was really good! Haven’t seen that in ages! I saw some Dr. Who, long time ago, so can’t really comment, as I don’t remember them, age you know! LOL! And yes, I do remember the original Avengers! Great stuff, again, haven’t seen in quite a while!
I should add that I think that the local PBS station has the worst programming that I’ve seen on any PBS station. I don’t watch it much at all. The station in Dallas was pretty good as were the 2 feeds I got while living in Montreal.
Grog Ever see the following:
Irish RM
Minister
Yes MInister
Good Neighbors
Open All Hours
Chef
The Two of Us
To The Manor Born
Night Detective (Drama)
Frost (Drama)
I could go on, but I have given you a big list already! LOL!
Been watching Dr Who. They’ll probably be showing the ‘End of Time’ next week, and the week after the new Doctor. I enjoy the show and am looking forward to the new season.
My son finally showed up. I have asked him to let me know when he’s gonna be out all night….not where he’s at or what he’s doing…..and he thought it was pretty silly of me. Well that famous phrase comes to mind: Just Wait Until You Have Children!
Well, I have to wrap up. I wanted to do some beading today, but I just couldn’t get into it. Dunno what’s with me today. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.
Peace and Love……and Krispy Kreams on the table. Enjoy!
Dry, I just got my “Emma Peel” collection this week. I’ve already sneek-peeked the first disk. Awesome stuff. I’m planning on starting to watch the rest of them this hot & sticky summer.
They used to run The Avengers on one of my local PBS stations in Montreal. I haven’t seen it since on the tube.
Dry, no not all of them, and yes there are some missing I’m sure. Minister, Yes Minister, Chef, ‘Allo ‘Allo & To The Manor Born were shows I were able to see while living in Dallas. Add to that, Keeping Up Appearances & the Vicar of Dibley. Haven’t seen the dramas, though.
Quaby So glad he showed up! I know what it is like to be a parent! And I know, that phrase! Their time is coming! THEN, MAYBE, THEY WILL APPRECIATE US. I know I did. I finally came to realize* what and why* my parents did what they did!
Grog I forgot the Vicar of Dibley! That should fit our Shika girl!
If you like dramas, you should check them out! And Robbie Coltrane in “Cracker”. I think you would really like that one!
I meant to say earlier, I either walk into the middile of a movie, and since I did, no one will tell me what it’s about, so I have to “pick up the pieces” or else I fall asleep before it ends! LOL!
Dry as long as you don’t bring up Mr. Bean. I hated that show. Oddly enough, my uncle, who doesn’t watch TV, loved Mr. Bean. Go figure. The only movie he talks about is 12 Angry Men, which I do admittedly like.
Grog you never heard of Kids in the Hall? they’re a Canadian comedy troupe that had a series called “Four on the Floor” and are currently on the CBC (unless the series has ended) in a murder mystery spoof. I never watched them but they are apparently quite popular. Scot Thomson and Dave Foley are two of the five guys in it.
any how, up early in the moring means it’s bedtime now. thanks for the good wishes, and i’ll leave a little something in the karma bank as i leave. Happy Easter (or Happy Spring weather to those who prefer).
(((Tribe)))
oh. and 12 Angry Men is a great movie! first time i watched it was on commercial TV and i didn’t switch away once during commercials for fear that i’d miss something. a great cast and a great story.
now i’m gone (and no more Shika moves).
‘Fraid not yyyguy. I didn’t watch any “Canadian” content except for the news and Expos basball games at the time. Now I don’t watch much, if any primetime programming.
Hey Cleo! How was your dinner and the movie? “The Usual Suspects” was a great movie, don’t think I ever saw “The Spanish Prisoner”. And yes, Coltrane is a great actor!
That was back in the day when we ony got the 2 english Canadian TV channels in a Montreal Market. Sundays were never more boring - tube wise. And then my Dad got the outdoor antena that allowed snowy American signal into the house.
Dry, Grog I believe is commenting on “The Beachcombers” which is Canada’s longest running TV show. The Spanish Prisoner had a similar thing going on as “The Usual Suspects” where you do not know what is what until the end of the movie.
The BeachcombersDry. You are fortunate you never had to endure being held captive during the Sunday evening dinner hour as I was watching that bleepin bleep as I was. I wanted to pull a Calvin.
Grog never ever heard of Corner Gas, heard of Dawson’s Creek but never watched it. Watch certain things, but not addicted to the tube per se! Addicited elsewhere, like here? Not a chance, who is saying that about me? ROFLMO!
But, having said that, the movies I watch over and over again are “Philadelphia Story”, “It Happened One Night”, “Some Like It Hot”, “The Seven Year Itch”, “The Thin Man”, “Christmas Story”, “Holiday Inn”, etc.
It’s been worse diffrent A little while ago we nearly got to 500 posts here.
Dry, Corner Gas was probably the best Canadian production I’ve seen. In fact, as much as I may dislike it, I might be happy to see it as compared to the current programming available to us now.
Grog, I can not believe that you have all these great movies and are not familiar with “A Christmas Story”. Rent it, it stars Darren McGaven and Peter Billinglsley. It, in my mind, is the best Christmas movie of all time.
OMG, GROG! You don’t know Paul Hogan? CROCIDILE DUNDEE? (Sorry, I just had such a crush on him back in the day and he was hilarious!) He got his start on Australian TV in a GREAT comedy show. It was on in the ‘80’s, then he made his first Crocodile Dundee movie. (and then a second, and as far as I know, hasen’t done Jack Sh** since! :-(
You know Cleo I never saw that either, but Darren McGaven was an actor that I always enjoyed! And isn’t Peter Billingsley Barbara Billingsley’s grandson? Gee, how old would Peter be now?
Dry I was more into Indiana Jones. When I went to Arizona back in1998 (was still living in Montreal), I bought one of those cowboy hats that made me look like Indy. Then I got insulted by our Accounting Manager when she said I looked like Crocodile Dundee.

Hope all is well with everyone. I’m off to rehearse 7 kids for a Gospel Procession for tomorrow. I have 5 “newbies” this year. Should be interesting!
Have a good afternoon and evening.

And, personally, I think God would give another chance, right up until decision time.
carmy over 14 years ago
celecca, I haven’t been in FL that long, but I also never had problems with the pollen until recent medical situations changed that. Good luck with the rehearsal. May everyone be Blessed with their Gospel Procession tomorrow. Quaby, have you heard from your son?
Quabaculta over 14 years ago
celecca A gospel processional? We’re having that on our traditional service as well. We rehearsed Monday night, the one what wiped me out really good (over 3 hours). Easter and Christmas are our ‘high’ days with full rites. Crucifer, the little one carrying the bible, 2 acolytes, and the Festival Choir (bigger than the normal choir). We are so far in back of the line and down a hallway we don’t even hear the confession and forgiveness. We figure we got it the week before and we’ll get it next week.

I’ve done some sorting and pitching in my closet as well as finished disassembling the big shelving unit. I think I will lay down, and if I’m lucky I’ll have a snoozle.

Some might say rock is bombastic, but that would be more in the instruments than the voice.

cleokaya over 14 years ago
Just had a piece of my homemade banana bread and it is good, but as taste confirmed, it is not a dessert bread. But it is a very good, dense bread that tastes great with butter on it. Dry, I actually was friends of one of the members of the band Bread. Larry Knechtel used to live near me and I got to be friends with him. Unfortunately he passed away last year and he was not that old. He also played piano on Simon & Garfunkel’s “Bridge Over Trouble Water” and on Johnny River’s “Secret Agent Man”, I think he played guitar. He was a studio musician before and after Bread.
carmy over 14 years ago
Cleo. I’m glad your bread came out well. Does it taste at all like banana? I think the only bread I’ve made other than plain is pumpkin.

Dry and Dusty Premium Member over 14 years ago
Gee Carmy I haven’t the faintest idea! LOL!
cleokaya over 14 years ago
Carmy the bread does not taste like bananas. It isn’t sweet either. It tastes like bread with walnuts and only the slightest hint of sweetness. The sweets to flour ratio are small enough that they only hint as to their presence.
Dry your joke was… LOL. As to the theme from “Goodbye Girl”, I do not know. I will google it.
cleokaya over 14 years ago
Dry, yes they did. I am not sure if Larry was with them at that time or not.
Shikamoo Premium Member over 14 years ago
Carmy Are you saying that Dry’s joke is like flat bread? I thought it was pretty good! :-D
Dry and Dusty Premium Member over 14 years ago
Cleo I haven’t seen that movie in years, but all this talk, I would love to see it again. Wonder if it’s still around?
I guess I must pass on the bread then, with walnuts, you know. Haven’t seen Goodquestion for awhile, but if my memory is correct, that person was also allergic to walnuts.

carmy over 14 years ago
Hi Shika! Dry, I’m sure the movie is still around. It is a good movie. Cleo, did LilG like the bread?
carmy over 14 years ago
The only place I am traveling to is the couch. In the last few days we have seen, The Greatest Story Every Told, King of Kings and The Passion.
cleokaya over 14 years ago
Carmy yes, LilG proclaimed it perfect and said, “If I make it again, don’t make any changes.” By the way Dry, the walnuts were optional. It would be just as good minus them.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member over 14 years ago
Cleo next time, use almonds, okay? Then I can eat some.
cleokaya over 14 years ago
I did learn something though. If I make a bread that bakes that long again, I will turn the pan 180 degrees half way through. One side was done and the other needed several more minutes of baking.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member over 14 years ago
Carmy I’ve never seen the Passion, I heard it was terribly intense, and also not in English. And now that my hero, Mel, has done what he’s done, he’s fallen in my eyes. Though, I must admit, I will watch “Signs” anytime, anyplace! I loved that movie. In fact, I believe we own it, somewhere in that multitude of VHS and DVD’s. LOL!.
carmy over 14 years ago
Cleo, you need to note that down on your recipe so you will remember.
cleokaya over 14 years ago
Carmy, I think that I will remember, but that is probably a smart thing for me to do.
Shikamoo Premium Member over 14 years ago
Carmy The Passion was in English, I’m pretty sure. I watched the movie. It was very intense. Perhaps they had sub-titles tough, and I have forgotten.
Shikamoo Premium Member over 14 years ago
I’m going to an Easter Vigil tonight, so I guess I’ll be moving on to get ready. I don’t know how long it will be, but it should be interesting.
Peace, my friends.
carmy over 14 years ago
Cleo, I have to do that to my recipes because I do forget. Dry and Shika, I believe The Passion on DVD gives you the option on which language you would like to hear. It also has subtitles. We did see the Aramaic version, but with the English subtitles. Dry, I loved Signs too, and all the Mad Max movies and especially “Tim.” If you haven’t seen that one, see it as soon as you can!
carmy over 14 years ago
Have a blessed evening, Shika! Dry, I forgot to mention that The Passion is extremely intense. You will need a full box of tissues within reach.

Dry and Dusty Premium Member over 14 years ago

Carmy, my problem when it comes to movies, is that we watch them after dinner. I am full, have had some wine and a cocktail or two. I sit down, wide awake and in no time I am sleeping. My wife watches the movie on her own. When I do stay awake, it is my wife who falls asleep.
cleokaya over 14 years ago
I am also one of those people who can go to bed and be asleep instantly (and that is no lie).
carmy over 14 years ago
Cleo, I am famous for falling asleep during a movie. I don’t always, but sometimes I do. The last time I fell asleep, I slept through the middle. I managed to see the beginning and the end. I am finding that I too am falling asleep almost instantly when I go to bed. I just get comfy and then zzzzzzzzzzzz.

Carmy it has been really consistent since we bought a new mattress about a year ago. Both LilG and I had been waking up with our bodies aching.

And yes, I get into bed, esp. on a Sat. night, when weather permitting, I crawl into nice lovely sheets with the smell of FRESH AIR all day long with my sheets on the line, and I feel so SNUGGLY I fall asleep within minutes. well done to Carmy on the jigsaw puzzle, and hello to all the Yappy Nuts who populate this Tribe. just got back from my cousin’s place where we celebrated my Aunt’s 80th birthday. as i posted a day or two back, it’s a little bitter sweet as hers is the day after Mom’s. so, while it was great to see all the cousins again, it was also a reminder of missing Mom. as my Sis noted to my youngest cousin, it would have been a double party and it would have been an absolute bash had Mom still been alive. anyhow, i’m just doing a quick flyby tour since i need to get up early for Church tomorrow a.m. and won’t be back tonight. Carmy, I don’t know if it fits your schedule, but The Easter Parade is on tomorrow morning at 9AM on TCM. Maybe you can record it.

I am back all. Cracker was a good show and Coltraine is a great actor.

I like movies like “The Usual Suspects” and “The Spanish Prisoner.”

I just thought of an old Canadian series I really enjoyed called “The Beachcombers” with Bruno Gerussi. I loved that show.

Hey Cleo! How was your dinner and the movie? “The Usual Suspects” was a great movie, don’t think I ever saw “The Spanish Prisoner”. And yes, Coltrane is a great actor!
Dry and Dusty Premium Member over 14 years ago
Cleo I may have started to watch the “Spanish Prisoner” and fallen asleep! LOL!

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagggggggggggggggggh!!!!
I HATED THAT SHOW!
That was back in the day when we ony got the 2 english Canadian TV channels in a Montreal Market. Sundays were never more boring - tube wise. And then my Dad got the outdoor antena that allowed snowy American signal into the house.

Dry the Spanish Prisoner had Steve Martin in a very unusual role for him.
So Grog. What did you think of the King Of Kensington?

Ask me what I think of Corner Gas or Dawson’s Creek.

Grog What show, The Spanish Prisoner? Since I never saw it, I can’t comment.
cleokaya over 14 years ago
Dry, Grog I believe is commenting on “The Beachcombers” which is Canada’s longest running TV show. The Spanish Prisoner had a similar thing going on as “The Usual Suspects” where you do not know what is what until the end of the movie.

The Beachcombers Dry. You are fortunate you never had to endure being held captive during the Sunday evening dinner hour as I was watching that bleepin bleep as I was. I wanted to pull a Calvin.

Another favorite of mine is “Memento”.

Cleo now I am curious. Steve Martin “in a very unusual role”?
GROG Premium Member over 14 years ago
Didn’t see that.

hello… a bit chatty today arint we??
Dry and Dusty Premium Member over 14 years ago
Grog never ever heard of Corner Gas, heard of Dawson’s Creek but never watched it. Watch certain things, but not addicted to the tube per se! Addicited elsewhere, like here? Not a chance, who is saying that about me? ROFLMO!

But, having said that, the movies I watch over and over again are “Philadelphia Story”, “It Happened One Night”, “Some Like It Hot”, “The Seven Year Itch”, “The Thin Man”, “Christmas Story”, “Holiday Inn”, etc.
cleokaya over 14 years ago
Memento is a movie that kind of begins at the end and works it’s way backwards, but it works very well.

Cleo Never heard of “Memento” Who was in it? Was it British, Canadian, ?
GROG Premium Member over 14 years ago
It’s been worse diffrent A little while ago we nearly got to 500 posts here.
Dry, Corner Gas was probably the best Canadian production I’ve seen. In fact, as much as I may dislike it, I might be happy to see it as compared to the current programming available to us now.

This one is going back, anyone remember the”Paul Hogan Show”?
GROG Premium Member over 14 years ago
cleo, I have all those movies except Christmas Story. Was that a Waltons movie?
GROG Premium Member over 14 years ago
Who’s Paul Hogan?
cleokaya over 14 years ago
“Memento” starred Guy Pearce. I think you would enjoy it Dry.
cleokaya over 14 years ago
Oh…and it was and is an American movie.
cleokaya over 14 years ago
Grog, I can not believe that you have all these great movies and are not familiar with “A Christmas Story”. Rent it, it stars Darren McGaven and Peter Billinglsley. It, in my mind, is the best Christmas movie of all time.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member over 14 years ago

My favorite was Christmas In Connecticut. But I also thought very highly of Miracle On 34th Street & A Christmas Carol (with Alastair Sim).
Dry and Dusty Premium Member over 14 years ago
You know Cleo I never saw that either, but Darren McGaven was an actor that I always enjoyed! And isn’t Peter Billingsley Barbara Billingsley’s grandson? Gee, how old would Peter be now?

Dry I was more into Indiana Jones. When I went to Arizona back in1998 (was still living in Montreal), I bought one of those cowboy hats that made me look like Indy. Then I got insulted by our Accounting Manager when she said I looked like Crocodile Dundee.

No Dry, I do not believe that they are related.
