I wrote my first computer program in 1966 and have been involved with technology ever since. I had my first cell phone in 1986 which was also the first year I sent an email (from my house, no less). With credentials like that, you would think that I use the latest and greatest in technology everywhere.
I am only so willing to accept so much technology. I don’t have an Alexa – I do not want a device spying on me at home.
It’s impossible to get along without a personal phone today, so I have one of them and I use many of its features. I do not have my nose buried in it every minute. It is primarily a communication device for me.
I do have smart TV’s since it’s not possible to buy anything else. I do use streaming services only because I got unbelievably good deals on annual subscriptions. Even those that have ads cut out about 15 minutes of ads an hour.
Before the internet (well, social media}, we turned on network news to gain information. Now, we click on selected “news” sites to confirm our already held opinions. We all lose.

Plenty of information on the internet. Some of it might even qualify as facts, but little of it can be called truth.

Wow that Dr. Thor is a really smart guy, considering just yesterday he was too dumb to wait and let the glue dry on his wing flying feathers!

I’ve been online for around 30 years, I’d suggest the disinformation really started with the likes of Facebook becoming big

All the facts are still in there somewhere. Buried under geological strata of dreck.
