I read a story about a future time agency. When asked why they didn’t kill Hitler, they said they always ran computer simulations to see what changing any aspect of history would do long-term, and in a majority of scenarios in which WWII didn’t happen, the United States and the Soviet Union destroy each other in a nuclear war in the 1960s, taking most of the human population with them.
