I relate to Nathaniel. I have a long, elegant name but as a kid I did not like it and wanted everybody to call me by my nickname my family used. Then when I got to College and wanted to use my elegant name everybody used my nickname. Life!
Nathaniel is a timeless and classic name that has been popular for centuries. It has a rich history, dating back to the 13th century, and has been borne by several notable figures, including Nathaniel Hawthorne, the renowned American author. The name is derived from the Hebrew name “Nethanel,” meaning “gift of God.” It has a strong, elegant sound and a sophisticated look, making it a great choice for parents who want their child to have a distinguished name.
Moreover, Nathaniel has a unique and distinctive quality to it, setting it apart from more common names. In an era where many names are being reused and rehashed, Nathaniel offers a refreshing change of pace. Its classic status also means that it will not be perceived as trendy or fleeting, making it a wise choice for parents who want their child’s name to stand the test of time. While Nathaniel may have its historical and cultural significance, it is also a rather old-fashioned name that may not resonate with modern parents or their children. The name’s association with antiquated values and customs may make it seem out of touch with contemporary society. Additionally, Nathaniel can be perceived as a bit too long and complicated for some tastes, potentially leading to nicknames or diminutives that may detract from the original name’s elegance.
Furthermore, the name Nathaniel has been linked to some negative stereotypes, such as being associated with the stereotype of being uptight or overly serious. This perception may not be entirely fair, but it could still influence parents’ decisions when choosing a name for their child. So, overall Nathaniel is a pretty decent name.
There’s also Nate Stevenson, though that strip was decades ago. Nate hypnotizes Jenny, whispering “Nate is the greatest! Nate is irresistable!” in her ear when she falls asleep in the library, but then she wakes up and asks the other Nate to go steady.
arc idea: (rate my idea from one to ten) so there’s a new girl and nate kinda likes her, and daphne finds out from someone else and is really mad. then, when nate finds out why daphne isn’t talking to him, he tries to apologize. Daphne still is mad at nate. the new girl that nate used to like turns out to be taken. nate then does something really crazy and sweet to win back daphne, and it works. happy ending.

An entire Sunday panel without Nate or any of the other familiar characters. Good way to slip in a new kid or two
