Young doctors usually are in debt up to their ears in student loans. But when they get a practice (I don’t like the sound of that word), they expect to enjoy the fruits of their labor as it were. The doctor is merely harvesting his crop.
First a quick background. I used to work in health insurance companies and at UCLA hospital. The problem with American medicine is not doctors overcharging. It is the insurance companies and what they cause.

Unless the doc is a proceduralist (surgeon, cardiologist, GI, etc.) he is not going to make much money off this patient.
