12 hour shifts on the radio-telescope were 8 to 8. Night shift had its advantages. The rising sun kept you awake at the tail end. And your opposite number had smashed the ice in the rainwater tanks, so you got a nice hot shower before bed.

Remember to sleep with blanket over head and feet sticking out. Change socks only when told to.

Well, today is Memorial Day, when we pay our respects to those who made the ultimate sacrifice in military service to our country. Most of us think of them as heroes, but a former commander in chief calls them “losers” and “suckers”. Not just the ones who were killed, anyone who served at all! So if you’re a veteran, that’s what he thinks of YOU. And if you know some vets, that’s what he thinks of THEM. So do remember that on Nov. 5, when you’ll have a very meaningful opportunity to indicate what you think of HIM!

Truth! Back then a buddy and I built and maintained a custom remote Quake (video game) server and sessions regularly lasted until 3am. Wakeup call was usually around noon the next day. It was great!

Works for me, in my rock n roll youth in the 70s to 80s and my life as a coder since 97. Working hours based on conformity serve sales people and talking heads. So, something for everybody, or does your vanity require everyone to be just like you ??? Happy Monday and a good week to us all folks !

Do they have good Wifi so they can get pool mat tanning time in? Some programming requires you to soak your head in cold water.

Night used to be the best time for mainframe hackers—only an hour or two between handing in your card deck and getting your output, compared with maybe six to eight hours during the day.
