OT: Did anybody get to see the northern lights? My attempt didn’t turn out so great.
On the 11:00 news they were showing some spectacular live video of it. I tried to look out my north window, but my neighbor’s trees were blocking the view. Clouds had also started moving in.
I could see hints of pink and green in the gaps between the branches. I went outside to get a better look. I didn’t turn on the porch light. I didn’t give my eyes time to adjust. I didn’t count the steps. I thought I was on the sidewalk, but I was still on the last step. So when I moved my foot, instead of already being on the sidewalk, I was jerked forward towards the sidewalk. I went spinning to the left and into the bush by the railing on that side of the steps. I tried to grab onto the bush to stop the fall, but I couldn’t get a handhold. It felt as if the bush were hugging me as it gently guided me down. Or was I in the arms of the angels?
I continued to keep rolling to the left. I landed on the ground in front of the bush and did another roll as I hit the grass.
The most pain is on the knuckle at the base of my pointy finger on the left hand. I have full motion in the pointy finger, but it hurts if I hold it straight out then try to move it down to my palm. There’s a blood blister on top of my left hand below the sore knuckle. I hope I didn’t break any bones.
I put ice on it right away. It doesn’t seem to be swelling. I’m able to type with that hand so long as I don’t try to go too fast. It only hurts if I try to grasp something or make a fist. I have some small scrapes on the palm of the left hand, but they didn’t bleed. My lower back and neck are hurting. So is my left knee.
I was so lucky that I fell into the bush and that the bush rolled me into the grass instead of falling onto the sidewalk and hitting my head on the steps. I thanked the bush for saving me.
I went outside again with a flashlight this time and walked all the way to the end of the driveway where I had a view to the NE without trees. From time to time I thought I saw pink and green glow through the clouds, but it could have been wishful thinking. I feel so stupid. I’m just glad nobody saw me except the bush.
Iggy! Best comment ever. And just whose shadow is that in the last panel? (cue old timey radio serial drama music) “The Shadow Knows.” (we’ll be right back after this announcement from our sponsor).
That is one heck of an up-light effect; I wonder what kind of light fixture is behind her to cause that. It’s the result you get from stage footlights in the absence of any other light source.

Iggy, you DO know you’re not a vampire, right? (Even if you’d be the most cuddlesome vampire around.)

OZ is the opposite of Bear. She screams at Achilles and sends him packing.

The Rolling Stones: Satisfaction
I cannot get any satisfaction
I cannot get any satisfaction
I cannot get any satisfaction
Because I try, and I try, and I try, and I try
I can’t get any!
I can’t get any!
…….
I try to put my shadow down
I am wearing such a frown
When I try to intimidate it
Now I just don’t want to play!
Hey, hey, hey, that’s what I say!
…….
I cannot get any satisfaction
I cannot get any satisfaction
I cannot get any satisfaction
Because I try, and I try, and I try, and I try
I can’t get any!
I can’t get any!

I do enjoy it when my shadow gets giant like that, but it’s definitely intimidating for Ora Zella. Naturally there’s no shadow for Count Igula.

Poor Ora. The world is such a confusing place when shadows can grow exponentially and terrorize you. Pappa will protect her.

Meanwhile, Back on the Nile
At the oPyramid Auditorium
Puckmosis: We have a great selection of shadow boxes for the Happy Healthy Hospital auction.
Lupinium: Elvis and I have the entertainment all set.
Elvis-Anum: I was glad to do the choreography. It really takes me back to my Dancing Corsair days.
Puck: Ora Z did a good job shredding scrolls for papyrus maché sculptures.
Elvis: And now we must carefully put the shadow boxes on the display shelves.
Iggy: Not a problem. I used to climb everywhere when I sailed.
Elvis: As did I. But that is best left to the less dignified youth.
Lupinium: Now off to practice my routine with the less dignified youth.
