I spent 2 weeks trying to close a CD acct. The bank had it linked to my main acct and the service person didn’t know that. So I wound up not really closed and gained $2.56 in interest. When she tried to close the acct again, it wouldn’t let her. Finally had to call support and they had to do it. I can’t wait for AI to take over when you won’t be able to do anything when it feels grumpy.
I’m leaning toward the AI stuff is like the auto driving cars we were supposed to get. However, no one is mentioning the AC power it will need. Exceeding our current capacity. For example in Europe it will need as much as Sweden needs now.
My favorite response is, “Well, maybe AI will solve this problem.” How can it solve a problem if the power isn’t there to start it up?
I recently saw an old photo of people riding a commuter train, probably going to work, THEY ALL HAD THEIR NOSES BURIED IN NEWSPAPERS! This fascination with devices is nothing new!!!
Back when the personal computer still required a land line to access message boards and cell phones were larger than bricks, a little movie called Terminator warned us of an AI instigated apocalypse.
40 years later and we’re still running full speed towards accomplishing this goal

Apparently Verne is confusing AI with robots and Arthur C. Clarke’s three laws of robotics.

AI is the worst. It’s putting artists and writers out of a job.

AI and Bitcoin are going to drain the energy of entire countries. They are energy vampires.

I wonder how many here remember “The Forbin Project”. I suspect AI, sentient can be created now, “they” are just afraid to do it.

I feel like we’re going to wind up in some mashup of Soylent Green, Terminator and a George Romero zombie movie.

This is why reproduction rates are so low. Nobody feels like having long term adventures.

Maybe AI could develop a sense of humor.

Government is scared to death of Artificial Intelligence.
……… It has the capacity to accurately expose corruption with undeniable accountability and precision.
They want to regulate it so that they never have to face those who know the absolute truth.
