Ever read “The Famous Five” by Enid Blyton? There’s a girl named Georgina who’d rather be a boy so she calls herself “George”. And remember George Sand.

I read all 56 of the original Nancy Drew books when I was a kid. In the third book they introduced cousins “George” and “Bess”. I don’t recall which name George was short for, but they said she was called that because of being a tomboy.

I would just call “her” Squash.

I guess there must be male ladybugs in order for the species to propagate.

Hmmm, even after reading the comments… If the punch line is that the “Lady” bug is named George, it’s pretty weak at least to me.

Lil and Howard are drunk at the bar. Something crawls in front of them and Howard says bug, Lil says yep. Howard says ladybug. Lil says darn good eyesight.

It’s a lady bug.
