I used the “sneaky as a shotgun” method by pummeling our kids with historical stories and facts for their entire lives. When they were in high school, they’d come home, happily shocked at the perfect scores and extra credit they received in History.
This is why an average science fair is unfair. The parent’s only duty is to keep the kid away from explosives, flammables and unstable sub-critical masses.

As a geologist, I couldn’t resist giving my daughter a few tips on an paper for her U. of Ottawa geography course. She got 100%.

Ah! So, like the Pinewood Derby!
In our Pack, I instituted an “Authentic” classification for medals, for cars obviously crafted by only the Scout, as per the instructions.
