It’s a holiday here. We celebrate the birthday of a queen who never set foot in this country and didn’t like us very much. Great weekend to put your tomatoes in, though, or “get up to the lake.”

Ohhh it’s that beautiful cherry tree again! I absolutely adore that last panel, with Pucky in his striped pajamas alongside his faithful companion, Buzzy Mouse enjoying coffee and the view. I love how we can see the reflection of light through the glass on the windows. How skillful an artist Georgia is. ❤

Slowest news day ever!

Monday loving cats? Me must be seeing theengs.

I think this needs to be a coffee mug…

Pucky, you are so right. 30 years of marriage and my husband still doesn’t understand that this morning person wants her coffee in silence shared only by a void curled up in her lap.

I wish I liked coffee. I like the idea of it and the smell of it, just never could acquire the taste of it.

I’m enjoying that letter and number this morning, too, but since it is still very dark out I’m watching a ’puter rather than a sunrise.

Currently I have the letter “Coffee” and the number “purr”. :-)

Morning. The sun hasn’t broken the horizon just yet, but the sky is filled with blues, purples, and warm oranges.

It’s not silent. Classical music is playing softly in the background: J. C. Bach’s Quintet in D for flute. The coffee is brewing, and the scent is drifting into the room I’m in. I am looking out the window over the computer screen at a rather twitchy squirrel sitting on the cedar fence and eating something, probably a cicada.

A moment of peace. Long day ahead.

Good Morning Buzzy Mouse

I’m looking forward to enjoying more of that number “silence” in the morning when & if the crews ever get done shifting dirt around! They’re digging French drains all around the building, & since my apartment is in the back, all the dirt from that huge job gets dumped literally right outside my bedroom window, starting around 7:30am…at least I’m not at the end of the building where they’re taking out some big old trees…

This brings back fond memories of mornings with PJ (RIP). Neither of us was a morning person, but most mornings when I got up, he’d already be at his desk, drinking his coffee & catching up on the news. I’d stagger into the kitchen muttering “braaaaain juuuuuuice…,” get my coffee, & retreat to my desk at the other end of the living room to read the funnies. We might not say anything to each other until almost lunch time. The companionable silence was more than worth its weight in coffee beans!

Ah, the peaceful sound of purring cats on this last day of a holiday weekend.

That sounds extremely pleasant. I tend to have a calm mug of tea on Mondays, and it gets the day off to an enjoyable start.

About a year ago I bought myself some nice noise-cancelling headphones. When the urban sprawl sprawls into my live I retreat to the silence of those headphones. Sometimes with no music, tv or other sounds coming through. Just to experience that total lack of noise.

What a lovely way to start the day! I spent my early morning on the daybed reading BCN and doing NYTimes puzzles on my phone while Bartholomew snuggled and snored next to me.

Ahhh – Spring mornings!

I wish I had a beautiful pink tree in my front yard. I think Angel is happy with the Oak tree with the squirrels, though. :)

we have a nectarine tree in the back yard which is blooming beautifully each March and… not bearing any froot this year! the other years we had about 5 to 10 nectarines all in all…. :,(… I am following all instructions for pruning nectarine trees…
