Australian Rules football requires you to dribble (bounce) the ball if you want to run with it. And they kick goals from 60 yards sometimes… on the run
Wikipedia says Shaq weighed 325 pounds. Haven’t watched that much NBA, but I’d imagine anyone willing to stand in the lane between him and the basket would have been okay for the NFL.
Just a note—-so far so good for Chris Sale, who’s having a great season so far after the Red Sox finally shrugged their shouldersand ran out of duct tape
Bud Grant did it. But usually they go the way Dave DeBusschere and Chuck Connors did with NBA and MLB. Or like Bo Jackson did and Deion Sanders attempted with MLB and NFL.

Or getting hit by a 300 pound offensive lineman. OTOH the NFL has banned tackling, so there’s that, but not the fistfights between the linemen.

The urge to dribble? Have you watched the NBA lately? Those guys feel no compunction to dribble at all.

I’d hate to see what it’s like to be tackled.

Very few basketball players have the bulk to play football. And those that do are cursed by sanity

I don’t think this is a problem. NBA players run with the ball all the time.

It’s not impossible. Antonio Gates only played basketball in college, and he’s likely going to be in the NFL Hall of Fame before too long.

Basketball players tend to be thin with small knee and ankle joints. They look like crushed tomato cages after getting tackled.

NBA players seldom dribble any more and physically they match up pretty well – don’t let the pads fool one’s perception of size.

They do know how to flop, though, so they’d just hit the ground when someone passed to close to them.
