I’ve never liked wearing neckties. They’re too much like a leash you’ve been forced to wear. It also might be because I grew up watching TV westerns in the 1950’s, and a “necktie party” was never a good thing for the guy wearing it.
Worked with a guy like that looked like his father tied his tie on day one, and he would just loosen and tighten it everyday after that. The knot was so small and tight
Once I learned, I like tying ties, in fact, a lot of the lady members of our high school band came to me to tie the ties we were required to wear for concerts.
I had to wear a tie in the office. I was asked to help in the warehouse for an afternoon so I showed up after lunch wearing a t-shirt with a clip on tie.
Unless you’re like a Plugger I knew who used a full Windsor knot. Unlike the more common half-Windsor, which is just a glorified slip knot, those don’t slip.
I had a bow tie, but since I don’t know how to tie it, I have been clipping it on from the back. Still in the same knot as it was in the original package. Haven’t worn it in years.

I gave all of my neckties to a friend who was making an interesting dress entirely out of neckties. That was about 30 years ago.

Don’t wear them anymore but could tie one if needed. Prefer Bolo ties with an open collar.

My late husband used to do that.

And when it comes time to clean the tie, plugger just tosses it into a pot of hot water to make a stock from the gravy stains.

I guess my dad was a Plugger, though I actually tied them the first time.

These days, one can get a neck tie that has a zipper on it…works much easier.
