These two only thought Disneyland was affordable when they were kids because their parents paid. I haven’t seen it as affordable since 1979. Now if Mickey would stop having his dog crap on my lawn, we could be better neighbors.
Went to Disneyland in Anaheim in 1960. Mom & Dad just paid general admission. I got the all day pass which was a pink (I think) card about the size of a postcard and a ribbon around my wrist with one of those one-time clamp fastener things. It was good for anything in the park, as many times as I wanted all day long. Except for the shooting gallery. It cost $5.35. A fair amount back then. But not as far out of reach as prices today. I’m a big kid now and have my own money (some, anyway) and wouldn’t want to pony up the coins to do that now.
An 8 hour visit to an amusement park is expensive- especially if you calculate the number of minutes spent waiting and standing in line for exhibits, rides, ordering lunch, eating/drinking, or just using the bath room.. figure minimum an hour or more—- based on a $120 buck ticket — that’s $15 to $20 they make for you doing basically nothing.
Our kids are all grown up and our days of visiting theme parks are over. Except for Parc Asterix and the Ghibli Theme Park when it opens. And no parking fees at the Ghibli Park because there is a train station at the park’s entrance and no parking lot.

Then how are you going to pay for the concessions?

Somebody has to pay for all of the Florida teachers who get in free.

In 1980 I had to scrimp and save for months to take a family of 4 to Disneyland.
Today I could take that family and all their families to Disneyworld tomorrow and pay for it with cash from ATMs without concern for the cost.

Hey the parks are one thing that is making big profits for Disney today. They have to raise prices to keep their bomb producing film division afloat.

As Jello would sing, “Tomorrow you’re homeless, tonight it’s a blast.”
