I disabled ours. I instead make ice the old fashioned way using ice cube trays by Rubbermaid.

Had a cat would freak out whenever the ice maker dumped the ice. Unfortunately he would often be in my nap, my thighs would sometimes heal up between these episodes

A neighbor questioned my leaving lights on through the night. I told him it was so I could see the look on the burglar’s face when I shot him.

I recently bought a new fridge with an icemaker. I had never had one before. It did take some time to get used to the sound.

All you have to do is invest five thousand dollars to invest in the new and improved silent ice making fridge. Actually it just has a ‘night mode’, like the Coo Coo Clock, your phone(s) and your tablet. Wait, why is it so eerily quiet?!

Adam, get your hind end out of bed and go check. That way you’ll know one way or the other.

I always blame night time noises on the cats.

Our fridge is very noisy. But, over the years the noises change, almost like when I get acclimated to a sound, it changes…

We have a fridge with an ice maker, but did not install it. After a few years, somehow the ice switch got flipped and it started making weird clunking noises. It took me almost a year to figure out it was the ice maker, and not the condenser going bad! Seriously embarrassing moment.

We got a refrigerator with an ice maker around 12 years ago…. I’m STILL not used to the sound in the middle of the night!

My refrigerator has a whole repertoire of noises, including some that resemble the meow of a questioning cat. Refrigerators should be cold and not heard.

If someone was in our house my wife would be the first one out there with a baseball bat. She’s mean.

We had a fridge with an ice maker – it came with it – no choice. This was some decades ago (as husband’s parents – long deceased now for for a couple of decades – had been at the house when it was delivered and the installer had a problem in the basement hooking up the water- forget what it was) but remember there was a problem and something in the plumbing had to be changed.

It died in 2020 and mid – worst of Covid – we needed a new one. (Could only run the dorm sized fridge in the RV for a short time as a substitute.) We found one without an ice maker and that works fine for us. Mostly the only time we use ice is when I make a stew a day ahead of time and I need to cool it down quickly to store it in the fridge.

Works better and always have 3 trays – much more ice than we need.
