I’m pretty sure what they’re doing is violating several health codes!

We moved out into the country, early 1970s, my dad quickly found wild grapes. We picked bags of them, we did not stomp them LOL, but since there was a lot of thick skin and a big seed, he squeezed them with a nylon, hoping to just get the juice. The juice fermented, he relied on the natural yeast.

This is either really old or poorly researched. A homebrew shop would sell bottles of grape juice from different varieties of grapes.

popsicles are just sugar with artificial grape flavoring, he’d be better off making rum with them

When they sold cans of frozen grape concentrate in the supermarket, I would let a pitcher of it sit in the fridge for a week, and it would start to ferment

I remember making balloon wine in my youth with a gallon jug, a large balloon, a large can of Welches Grape Juice concentrate, a package of Fleischmann’s yeast, water and a boatload of sugar. The recipe emphasized that it had to be a $.25 balloon (a lot to pay for a balloon in 1970) so you knew it was a big strong one. You mixed it all together in the jug, and attached the mouth of the balloon over the jug opening with rubber bands. As it fermented, the balloon expanded. When it collapsed again, the wine was done. It was very sweet, and very grapey, but it was clearly wine. Good times.

    Think of the TV commercial:

“If you like Grapico, try Grapiwine! Look for it at your local grocer.”

I wonder if folks (mostly teens) are still trying to make wine using Welches grape juice?

Whatever he winds up with will only be faintly related to wine. Better to just buy a nice bottle of wine and be done with it.

Peter’s being the smart one here; I’d be sure to avoid consuming whatever Roger ultimately creates. As for Roger, his attempt at making wine is reminiscent of some of Agnes’ culinary efforts in her strip. Only difference is that Agnes is a kid and Roger is (supposedly) an adult.
