From yesterday’s comments, referring to my less-than-great vacation due to all the rain keeping me out of my garden, Gweedo it’s legal here Murray commented, “That is sooo sad. Did not an extended weather forecast call it ? That can change from day to day; I keep Weather Underground on an open tab. What you do is put in your location and then select a station near to you. Everyday, or when you next are in there, you “rejuice” the page for the latest update. I run the 10 day extended forecast option.”
We have to request vacations at least 3 weeks in advance because that’s how far we are scheduled. So, looking at long range weather forecasts doesn’t help. We can request up to 6 months in advance. I put in my request for this week off in May back in January so I would be the first one requesting that week and they couldn’t deny me due to “lack of coverage”. I also put in for a week in July, but they denied it because our store manager seems to like denying vacations. Maybe because of the holiday, but I always request the first week of July off and it was never denied by any other store managers. I’m taking off a week in late June instead. That has been approved, as well as my usual 2 weeks in the middle of August. I feel lucky that I got my August vacation approved. This store manager is the first one we ever had who has denied so many people of vacation days. Of course, he gets his vacation when he wants it.
Stand firm on your days off when you apply for them well in advance. Exercising your seniority should be important to both you and your employer. I know you don’t have a Union, but a boss is just doing a job….just like you are doing. He has bosses too!
Hanging up my Flag today in honor of those who gave the greatest sacrifice one can give for one’s country. I trimmed my hedges yesterday so the flag can be seen in full. My cats will not appreciate some of their bird feeder view obscured – but now that the screen windows are in, they really appreciate the sounds, sights and smells from outside. The back porch becomes unbearably hot nowadays (upwards to 110 in early afternoon) and even with the awning down, the kitties now prefer the front of the house and screened windows.
Awww, how sweet. Still, just one Valentine? You’d think a nice kitty like Oliver would get a dozen Valentines at least. Still, it’s quite sweet. On another note, saw two juncos, twelve robins, a Steller’s jay, a sparrow, three grosbeaks, two rabbits, a Wilson’s warbler, a wren, and two spotted towhees while out walking today.
