Here we begin to see the culmination of April’s 2-week effort to get affection from her family. She managed to get a hug from Elly by being the velcro baby until Elly relented two days ago. She manages to get a hug from John by pretending to be asleep today. That leaves one more with Elizabeth, which I am going to guess happens tomorrow to close out the week and the story.
Lynn’s Comments: My dad was a watchmaker. One of our favourite stories was “The Noisy Clock Shop” by Jean Horton Berg. I recently found it again in a second hand shop— an original “Wonder Book!” Mr. Winky was the main character. I got the title of the book wrong here, but I sure remembered the story!

Is that why April has DADDY read her the story- Mom reads the story when April is already IN bed, no carrying necessary.

I’m guessing April treasures her opportunity to be held close by her daddy.

Next time, read her the theory of quantum physics. Or Einstein’s theory of relativity.

This brought a flashback from 70 years ago! Mama and Daddy both read this book to me! Its name was “The Noisy Clock Shop”.

Really? Mr Winky?
Is Lynn getting cocky with her editors again?

There is something very comforting/calming about holding or carrying a sleeping child. Like you’ve been entrusted with a great treasure.

Daddies read stories different than mommies. Daddies are great story readers.
