Edgar rings the bell

And John fails to notice.

But Edgar has figured out the ‘magic trick’ to be let back into the house…

Do we know if Edgar can bark? Does he have a ‘voice’?

Is that supposed to be the front door or the back door? If it’s the front door, how did Edgar get out of the backyard? If it’s the back door, why do they have a doorbell on it?

Y’know, maybe dogs should be governing this nation. They seem so much smarter than humans!

If that didn’t work, he would have called

Wow! Edgar really doesn’t want to bark at all!

Well, John doesn’t seem to make a great Columbo detective! – Door bell rings! Nobody there except a big dog! How did the doorbell ring? Could it be the house is haunted supernatural wise? Who knows, John is only a dentist.

Why is he out, not on a leash with no one watching him, late at night?. Definitely not responsible pet parents.

That is one smart pooch.

At 2 AM, it’s hard to put 2 and 2 together!

Edgar is the smart one in the family.

Looks like Edgar learned a trick that John hasn’t yet.

We will probably never see him do it again

Edgar’s gait in the last panel looks even more unnatural than Ellie’s and Connie’s jogging.

They leave their dog outside unsupervised and maybe all night?

From Lynn’s Comments: We had a friend whose dog actually rang the doorbell to get in. I thought it was such a nifty idea that I put it in the strip.

Wow, Canada must be vastly different that Florida. I would never let my dog stay outside alone. And I would never open my door in the middle of the night if I didn’t know who it was.
