Gracie, you really need to remember to think these things through before opening your mouth.

A cup of decaf containing less caffeine than chocolate bars really surprises me

No decaf, chocolate or soda for you, young lady.

Two cans of Coke have more caffeine than a cup of regular coffee.

Papi has trapped her. Maybe he’ll compromise with an afternoon chocolate bar. I would.

Too much caffeine from coffee or soda can result in a kidney infection, and that is not fun.

When I was 11 I spent eight days in the hospital. For six of those I had an IV. The nurses told me I wasn’t allowed any caffeine because of whatever was in the drip. That was when I found out about chocolate having the stuff. On the seventh day after my IV was out I went down to the cafeteria, and I had an iced tea and a pack of Keebler’s chocolate covered graham crackers.

I wasn’t allowed even decaf coffee until I was 16. As a kid, I was allowed Postum My dad always got the blue label because red was coffee flavored and he hated coffee. You can still get it from the Vermont Country Store but for a hefty price. I was also allowed an occasional cu of herbal tea. My mom just wouldn’t let me have it often because it wasn’t cheap and if she let me have it too often, I’d want it all the time. Hardly think one teabag a week would break the bank. I could get two cups out of one bag

There are lots of sugar free chocolates out there now. I love them because I am diabetic.

Based on a Google search, a 42g chocolate bar, which is a pretty standard size, contains about 18mg of caffeine. A single cup of coffee contains 70-140mg, or about 95mg on average. So no, there is not more caffeine in a chocolate bar, unless you are eating a giant one and comparing that to some very weak coffee.

When I used to work for an accountant when I was just out of college, every day at 10 am the secretary for one of the other accountants in the office would make coffee for us to have a coffee break. (I was careful to never make the coffee as despite being considerably younger than her I was an accountant, not a secretary and had been taught to remember that secretaries are under me. )
