Elaine is talking about her date.

“No I didn’t. I mentioned the bisque.”

Rip, maybe get a shower and THEN have some pancakes…

Apparently the gunfire and the thrown trash were just foreshadowings of the real action, and Dan knows his readers are too sensitive to be exposed to the details.

Think of ‘KA-BLAM! BAM!’ etc. as trigger warnings.
