Many years back they were rebroadcasting Rin-Tin-Tin. I said, oh boy gotta watch that. Made it to the 3rd Yahoe Rinny! and turned to another station.

Charlie Chaplin movies sorta have that effect these days

My favorite from childhood was Hand In Hand about a little Catholic boy and his Jewish female friend.

The Ghost and Mr Chicken did not age well.

Ralph Drabble has kids in elementary school. His oldest is in college. That means he’s in his 40s or maybe early 50s so he grew up in the 1980s and 1990s. Logically, he’s trying to show them The Land Before Time or Honey, I Shrunk the Kids or something else from that era.

I realized not too long ago that the shows and movies I thought liked as a kid were shows other people liked. Even shows I enjoyed 10-20 years ago don’t appeal to me for the misogynistic content, plus a few that shamed parents for looking out for their children.

Leonard, Part 6…

It’s pretty bad when the dog leaves.

Reminds me of taking my oldest to see the Speed Racer movie years ago. I was so amped to share one of my favorite childhood cartoons with him as an updated movie. Boy, was that movie bad. What a disappointment. UGH

My favorite old western is “Westward the Women.” Oh, and that one with John Wayne and Dean Martin.

Even Wally is leaving. John Wayne is my fave.

When I saw “Lost in Space” recently I couldn’t beleive that I never noticed the ship was made from cardboard apparently. And all on one set.

Husband and I met in college and started a movie club. The group would go out to the movies on the weekend together.

At some point we started going to movies alone. Our backgrounds are such that on paper no one would match us up. But movies – especially old movies – are what drew us together.

Short of terribly bad weather or being somewhere on a trip where there was no movie theater, we went every Saturday night to the movies- and sometimes also on Sunday and/or Friday night.

Then Covid came along, so movie night became something on TV at home – Saturday night date night movie became “Saturday night date night movie on TV”.

Then a year or so in he added based on something we did while dating in college on Friday nights after our evening jobs when we go to the Friday midnight movie at the local art cinema. So we now also have “Friday night midnight movie on TV”. DVDs (have a huge collection of movies on blue ray, DVDs, VHS and Beta – some movies on multiple media) of old movies. First movie, of course, for same was “The Rocky Horror Picture Show”, Went through all of the Marx Brother movies and went on from there. For Friday, day after Thanksgiving, annually, it is “Alice’s Restaurant”.

To us it still watching movies on TV, but it is the best we can do for now.
