Poor Wilberforce doesn’t have an athletic bone in his body but at least he tries, and our hero does his best to encourage his son.
Beats what I saw a Pop Warner football game. The boy was probably about 6 or 7 years old. A kid on the other team had the ball and was running for all he was worth. The first kid went running after him, tripped and fell, missing the tackle. His dad blasted out of the bleachers and began whipping the kid for falling. The coach ran over to the dad, yanked the boy away from the out of control father. Then there was a fight between the two men. Never learned the outcome of the entire sad mess.
Well, Wilbur didn’t say noone else struck out. For all we know, his team may be a clinic team just learning the ropes. We already know his coach is a work in progress.
Brutus, nice pep him up speech. But Wilberforce still feels rotten inside. What he needs is a big chocolate milkshake and a footlong Chili Dog all the way – no onions.
Hah! I ride a Harley and my wife always tut tuts when some 20 something tears by, swerving lanes on a crotch rocket. I tell her he’s a statistical necessity for old guys like me. For everyone of them that gets killed an old geezer like me survives!

The team can always count on Wilberforce for a sacrifice at-bat.

Look at it this way, you were only responsible for 5 outs. You could have hit into 5 double plays and been responsible for 10 outs.

Nobody is completely worthless. They can always be used as a bad example.

That kind of thinking is why he is a born loser.

He’s an example to the whole team, a bad example but then they know what not to do.

It’s nice when we see Brutus’ gentle and kind side. His winner behavior.
