Trivia: “Napoleon” already has a secret weapon – it’s a “battle” he ought to win. It’s simply that it didn’t play out that way on the day.

(Notoriously, Napoleon was very unwell on the morning of the battle – most likely haemorrhoids or dysuria, no-one is really sure. Whatever it was, though, he was definitely rather distracted and possibly also even a little confused. Plus Wellington already had a strong record of winning defensive battles against superior forces. And Napoleon was up against the clock; if he didn’t defeat Wellington fast enough, Blücher’s Prussian troops would arrive to tip the balance – which is what happened. NOT a good day to be off your game, basically. But whatever the reasons – it’s well known in wargaming circles that almost every time anyone refights Waterloo, Napoleon wins.)
