Nothing like your mom roasting a fresh turkey every week from Thanksgiving to the end of February because the price was right. Wouldn’t eat turkey again for years.
Yes, that happened in my house as well. This was in the ‘50s, and I think Mom catered to Dad’s palette … certainly not us kids. Truthfully, I can’t recall the exact food that she served, but I do recall us kids protesting and being told that we had to economize … whatever that meant. (I did develop a fondness for beans and wieners).
