Will the casket lid open and he’ll pop up?

Pop goes the weasel!

He’ll have a coffin fit.

I shudder to think what might happen at the high point of the melody.

But do you know?

He was a good Pop!

They’ll spring it on us.

There’s a jack that needs to STAY in his box.

This is about to get ugly!

Jack was a big time practical joker

Jack died for your sins.

Will they try to see how many will fit in coffin?

Jack will make a surprise appearance…

If it’s Jack-In-the-Box, will there be burgers?

Everyone will miss Jack, especially his offspring.

Chuckles will be in there, too!!

It makes me think of Elf when he was quality control at the north pole.

I told our church organist that if she plays at my funeral, I would like the postlude to be Pop Goes the Wesel and she can stop whenever she wants.

Night Of The Living Dead Jack In The Box

Why do I suddenly have a craving for a Jumble Jack?

Everyone, lets get ready to do the jump like we did last summer.

One of my college band directors, Mike, relayed a story about one of his early jobs. He was a good singer and would sing for weddings, funerals or whatever event you wanted a singer to help finance his college education. He was singing “I’ll Fly Away” at a funeral and had not been told that the departed loved one had arranged with the mortuary for his body to sit up in the casket during the singing of the song. Mike said that his voice got kind of shaky but he finished the song. People can be pretty weird.

When I was a little lad, my grandparents took me to the cemetery for a burial, I started singing “Enjoy yourself it’s later than you think” which was a popular song at the time! It made the newspaper the next day as a human-interest piece!

It’s a “Jack-in-the-Box” melody.
