Wallace the Brave by Will Henry for June 26, 2024

You know i’d gave up on shipping these two.. then this arc happened. It also is nice to dial it back a bit away from “Rose is the straight man to the pack of weirdos she befriended”. I don’t mind it all the time, she’s good at the roll, but it’s nice to have that and her own quirks at the same time. Part of what makes these characters work is they feel like fully fleshed out people. Even Sterling who is some form of homonculus.

I also like being alone. Nobody knows who I’m talking to.

Wallace’s spinning shoes look like the bouquet of flowers he will give Rose before the summer is over.

Crowds are cool, depending on what they’re up to! (Also, groovy use of the word “groovy!”)

Still hoping she talks him out of it..

I wonder if Mom will show up in tomorrow’s strip.

Which would be better? Wallace decide on his own not do it? Or Mom show up?

My prediction – mom’s out night-surfing and Wallace beans her in the head with his stinky shoes

The relationship between Wallace and Rose is delightful.

I enjoy the peace of being alone especially with an interesting book to read and a mug of tea and sitting by the window in a comfy chair. Perhaps some quiet background music playing.

“An entire weekend” I got grounded for 6 months when I was 14 lol.

His (denying the laws of physics) windup in the last panel makes the shoes resemble a bouquet of flowers :^)…

Alone is my favorite way of being. I do believe Rose may have a crush on Wallace here.

And somehow, suddenly his mom will appear out of nowhere and he gets punished…. again!

Looks like Rose is discovering they have more in common than she thought. How nice.

I hope Mom doesn’t catch him in the act. However, she will know that he did it when she notices the shoes have disappeared.

Let’s not pollute the bay. Garbage cans are everywhere.

If I didn’t know Wallace any better, I’d say he’s deflecting Rose in the last panel. :D
