Katy can track down the squirrel easily. After all, she is a nut!

In my house I just say “Squirrel!” to my dog. Nature does the rest.

    Belly rubs first, then hunt.

I thought dogs didn’t need to be persuaded to hunt squirrels, they just had to see one and go into full on SQUIRREL!! mode

Cats have bellies, too. Just don’t rub them if you value your hand.

No Gumbo, wrangle squirrel first, then you get a belly rub as reward. And we’ll throw in some skritches.

Maybe the squirrel will see Gumbo getting a belly rub, and come over to get one.

My dog growing up always wanted belly rubs. She was a big husky/Irish setter mix that looked like a golden retriever. As a kid, I got bored after a while and wished she’d want to fetch, or play, or do anything else. That dog spent way too much time all alone in our back yard though. Looking back, I feel sorry that she didn’t get more attention. I wish, at least, that she had had another dog to play with during the day.
