Well, the Biden family could give the $20 million or more they funneled through all those shell companies from China, Romania, and Ukraine, and give it up for the cause.
@ChipBok…I realize you’re all in for the humor and political points…but even you should be able to understand only Russian assets are being used to fund the fight in Ukraine (in this instance).
Republicans when frozen assets are unfrozen as part of a negotiated deal:“Waaah! Obama is paying cash to Iran! He’s an enemy of the United States!”
Republicans when frozen assets are used to generate interest to fight the sanctioned country:“We’re borrowing money from Russia for Ukraine? That makes no sense! Only in Biden’s America!”
So do you not understand financial sanctions? Or do you just try to score points at all costs, ideological consistency be darned?
Why not! The shadow money lenders create the Wars, then stir the Hatred, sell the munitions & when they decide to end it, they sell the materials to build back what they destroyed. Nice little circle of Profit & the politicians scrape off the table scraps into their bank accounts.
President Obama taught the world, and those who pay attention in the U.S., when he did the Iran cash return of Iran’s own assets that were frozen in 1979. All the earned interest in all those years, much during the double-digit interest rate times, he refused to give Iran over their objections, and put it in our Treasury. The G7 paid attention. They will take the interest earned from Russia’s frozen assets for Ukraine. It’s really simple, but oh so genius.
Chip, “we” — whether you mean the US or a larger grouping of governments — are not “borrowing” anything. The “complex” plan is actually quite simple: Money that under other (more “normal”, whatever that is) circumstances would be paid to Russia will now be paid to Ukraine.
The only potential complexity is being deferred until after the war is actually over… and that will be how — or even whether — Ukraine pays it “back” to Russia.
Bok, the Russian banks have sanctions against them. If another country lends Russia money, there will be sanctions against that country’s banks as well.
I don’t understand why Bok wants to openly lie or display ignorance.

They are giving Russia’s money to Ukraine. Poetic justice that obviously doesn’t have a foothold in Bok’s brain.

Yes, and it’s a good thing.
Bok’s wrong on the details, but yes, G7 figured out how to make Putin pay to fight against his own army.
I love it. Genius move! Only those who put Russia ahead of Liberty would dislike it.

When it comes to any topic that is a bit complicated, the conservatives cannot understand and so state foolish statements.

And we loan money on credit to give to Ukraine. Thats the smart way to go.

It shouldn’t be a loan. All frozen Russian assets should be given to Ukraine, free and clear.

facepalm I don’t even know where to start with this. So I’ll just summarize it with NO we are not borrowing from Russia to buy weapons for Ukraine.
