Just have your coffee Adam. Or expect to be in torture for 4 days. That’s how long it took to wean myself off caffeine for a test I had to take and it was awful. If you’re determined to go through with this, stock up on the pain pills since your head will be aching.
De-caff’d myself twice now. Not easy, not fun, but it’s nice to not be dependent on something. One mug of de-caff a day now. And, if I really need a jolt, I can have a cup of “real” coffee and it actually works. Not like the daily multiple doses just to feel “normal”.
If you drink too much coffee, one of the problems is that you get used to it, so you have to drink even more to get that buzz you were after in the first place.
Caffeine had certain addictive qualities such as “tolerance”, requiring higher doses for the same effect, and withdrawal. Personally, I drink decaffeinated espresso most of the time with a two or three half-caffeinated doubles during the low-energy periods of the day. That way I’m not developing a high tolerance just because I like the taste of coffee.

Think he’ll make it through the week? And if so, will it continue through next week? Maybe, he can start a chapter of “Coffee Anonymous”?

He should try tapering off rather than going cold turkey.

Caffeine withdrawal can be just as bad as nicotine withdrawal for some people.

Better to not even drink coffee to begin with. It is a dangerous addiction.

Been there, done that. Just hope wifey can tolerate him in this condition before she throws him out of the house.

I don’t want to do anything that has withdrawal when stopping. That can’t be good to my body. No nicotine, no caffeine in mass, no alcohol for me.

Nephew had to quit job at Dunkinn because the crew could have as much coffee as they wanted.

Slip him a coffee cherry every morning to reduce the stress of withdrawal.
