    Drive east bound on I-84 between Boise and Mtn. home. At one point in between the two looking on the right side as you drive east you will see the start of a “new mountain” out there in the desert. It looks quite out of place. It is the dump for both Boise and Mtn. Home. It is continuing to grow in height.

    There are such things as new mountains, of course, but normally new mountain ranges take millions of years to form. However a volcano can grow a lot faster. The volcano, Paricutin, in Mexico, suddenly burst out of a farmer’s field in 1943, and grew to a height of 200 meters in just four months.
