Way smart going John. July 19th, which is a month into summer, is a good time to put up the fly screens. I mean you don’t want hundreds of flies getting into the house during summer heat waves when you have cranked the windows open during the heat waves if you don’t have A.C.
The last panel reminds me of a story from my childhood. This was back when mothers would actually dress up and have their nice afternoon gatherings with their charity or social clubs. My mother was hosting and had everything prepared, including putting me in a pretty little dress. In the middle of their soiree, one of the ladies asked my mom if she was aware of where I was. I was sitting in the middle of the pile of manure my father had had delivered the day before, tossing handfuls up into the air. My mom had to interrupt everything to plop me in the tub.
Lots of lifting, digging, loading — man, you wouldn’t think dirt could be so heavy.
Lakeside Nursery apparently does not use heavy machinery to do the moving of soil and makes their employees do it. This is the reason why Lawrence quits working there and goes to work at Lakeshore Landscaping in 2 years.

The weight of a cubic yard of soil is one ton.

After yesterday, I hope Elly mended fences with Connie, and they’re both having coffee.

It appears April is watering her doll in the hopes that it will grow…

You’re only wearing the dirt April, not carrying it.
