Now if I could only find some wondrous strips of the past. I had a couple clipped out of the paper and taped up to my computer desk once, but … anno domini and all.

Wow – something in common with Tank. Our 50th wedding anniversary is in 4 weeks. I remember seeing Tank in the sports section of many of the newspapers we subscribed to over the years in the many places we lived. (Now – no newspaper subscription so just GoComics.)

Happy anniversary! I’ve read and enjoyed the strip from day one. In fact, one of the reasons I signed up for GoComics was that it carried Tank.

What got me started reading Tank was the Full Contact Karate strips.

Let’s see…If I stated reading Tank “Norts Spews” McNamara from the beginning, and it was the same year I graduated from college, that means I must be…OMG!!! FUHGETTABOUT IT!!!

Wow, Tank hasn’t aged a day in 50 years. I wonder what his secret is….

Just think, sports are even more ridiculous now than when Tank started! I have the large anthology collection plus a couple of the smaller collections.

Seems kinda weak for 50, dude. We need a Sgt. Pepper cover with ALL the faces.

I remember the first strip. I was fourteen.

And fortunately for him, sports personalities are the gift that keeps on giving.

Congratulations Bill! I started reading shortly after the strip started while I was in high school. Loved the Norts Spews and diving after any dropped object as if it were a fumble.

Happy 50th! Sadly, I can’t remember precisely how many of them I’ve been a reader. I do remember his trouble saying ‘sports news’ as a fledgeling TV anchor and the football lineman flashbacks when people dropped oblong objects…“FUMBLE”. Love SPJOY when it comes around every year. Hope it sticks around a while longer!
