The dog may have just been triggered to bite.

I is unbelievable that Go Comics has deleted any commenting on politically based comics. I enjoyed the spirited discussions for years.

“Does your dog bite?” “No.” Dog bites her. “You said your dog didn’t bite.” “Not my dog.”

This would never happen – all dogs love to be petted! If it doesn’t, then it’s a cat!

My dachshund loves being petted by others during our walk. Sometimes he will even initiate it, especially with kids!

We have NewfieLabs right now. If you want to pet them you, have to pay for it by accepting their big wet slobbering kiss. When we had GSDs they would accept pets from kids but not all adults.

My dog was recently accosted by a neighborhood child who wanted to lift up Gus’s floppy ears to see if he had “ear holes.” Gus comported himself well by staying just out of reach, and giving me these, “Make him STOP!” looks. Who’s a good boy?

geese – dogs have VERY few requirements for being a good pet – one is to let people pet them

My dog is trained to be accosted by people, since she is a certified therapy dog in a hospital. She has tolerated a lot from people, and sometimes I feel a need to rescue her or ask people to please pet her gently and not to whack her on the spine. She’s almost 14. (I don’t say the second part, only occasionally the first. I figure the heavy-handed people are used to much bigger dogs.) she still gets excited every time I put her badge on her and take her to work. She loves it and takes it very seriously.

A responsible pet owner should be aware of his dog’s reactions and not expose it to undue stress and trauma. Our dog was a rescue and is afraid of a multitude of things … including strangers wanting to pet. Today’s guy is rotten indeed.
