That was the Civil War. Things were pretty bad. One of the results of the North’s victory was the 13th, 14th, and 15th amendments. Another was Reconstruction. Some things got better — for a while. But then there was Andy Johnson, the Klan, the resurgence of racist politics, economic turmoil, Plessy and Jim Crow.

Things, the same things, are getting pretty bad again. And it’s a racing certainty that they will get worse before they get better.

One wonders how bad things will get before (or if) there will be another “new birth of freedom.” Will it be “mine eyes have seen the Glory,” or “Hurry, Sundown”?

The SCOTUS conservative justices should be ashamed of themselves. Total disgrace!

The RW has killed the principles of the U.S. as dead as President Lincoln. Poetic justice, they’ve already run a road grader over the Founding Fathers.

Instead of posting the 10 Commandments on every classroom wall, the Constitution and Bill of Rights would be much better, and actually start to teach it from kindergarten.

Lincoln was a pragmatist above all. And his biggest mistake was taking Andrew Johnson on as his VP in his second term; Johnson went on to undo much of what Lincoln had accomplished.

It did not hand the office of President (not just Trump) “broad immunity.” It only stated the President (again, not just Trump) has immunity from prosecution for official acts of office. Typical left wing hyperbole, meant to stir up fear and panic.

The supreme court handed Biden broad immunity too. And future presidents as well.

My father fought against the rapist’s ilk in WWII so this country would be safe from this maniac’s abuses. With the courts on his side, there’s nowhere to turn except revolution or the destruction of the republic. The rapist doesn’t amount to a drop of sweat my father suffered.

’That’s treason’: Project 2025 leader shocks with veiled threat of bloody revolution

The insurrectionists and fascist right wingers are out to steal the USA from the majority.

Heritage Foundation chief Kevin Roberts appeared on the far-right streaming service Real America’s Voice Tuesday to explain to viewers how conservatives were in the process of “taking the country back” from the “radical left,” video shows.

“We are in the process of the second American Revolution,” Roberts says, “which will remain bloodless if the left allows it to be.”

In other words they are threatening to kill us if we don’t roll over for right wing fascism, or they will kill us after we roll over for right wing fascism.

If the supreme court can just make up stuff that is not in the Constitution, nor implied by the Constitution, what is the correction for it? And how can anyone wink at bribes or “gifts” to officials as being OK with the rest of the Constitution? What school did the Justices go to that taught that crap, or did they just think if it works for them, it must be OK for any other politician?

“Gettysburg, what an unbelievable battle that was. It was so much, and so interesting, and so vicious and horrible, and so beautiful in so many different ways—it represented such a big portion of the success of this country”.

“Gettysburg, wow—I go to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, to look and to watch. And the statement of Robert E. Lee, who’s no longer in favor—did you ever notice it? He’s no longer in favor. ‘Never fight uphill, me boys, never fight uphill.’ They were fighting uphill, he said, ‘Wow, that was a big mistake,’ he lost his big general. ‘Never fight uphill, me boys,’ but it was too late.

Can just one of the idiots on the SCOTUS explain how immunity can be a thing, given that there are clauses in the Constitution against presidential crime? And not just one. There’s the “high crimes and misdemeanors” and emoluments. And trump broke both, multiple times. They are well documented.
