Soak some birdseed in alcohol, leave it out for the bird to eat. After a while the bird should slowly flap to the ground and fall asleep; at which time you scoop up the bird and put it in it’s cage.
I have not used this approach, but I have heard of its use many times after atriums get closed in.
When I was a little kid, we had a parakeet that was allowed out of his cage for exercise. He loved to land on my head and walk around. I guess my crewcut tickled his bottom, because he almost always left a “daisy” on the top of my head.
