He said “Check that out!” instead of “Hey, it’s Kahuna!”. Seems odd.

I’m guessing local resort decided they need a bit of local legend for their brochures. ergo: fake Kahuna.

This may be a man-made artificial reef, habitat for fish, animals and sea plants that grow on hard structures, and to promote the growth of coral. They are also attractions for divers. Besides repurposing all sorts of suitable items such as unused oil and gas rigs, manhole covers, city drainage culverts, rubble and other construction material, there structures specifically made to be reefs. De-commissioned ships are often cleared of all toxic environmental pollutants and are sunk to become reefs. Now artists around the world, including students, are designing and creating sculptures out of suitable materials which are laid on the sea floor. Classical and ancient cultural style statues, modern art, animals, fantasy characters, etc. Here on the Gulf Coast we have The Underwater Museum of Art, a living sculpture garden located at a depth of 60-feet in the Gulf of Mexico off Grayton Beach, Florida.
